The Conversion

Sheridan Marquardt and Chris Robinson are two of the most unique and gifted patrons of Oklahoma’s cycling scene. As owners of Celestial Cycles, they add their own unique flavor to Oklahoma’s cycling community. Their activities are not limited to owning a small business and making their livelihood as entrepreneurs. Each year they help promote and race in the Oklahoma cyclo-cross series. In addition to that they help sponsor several Oklahoma riders under the Oklahoma Bicycle Racing Union. On top of that they also find time to play bluegrass music in the Tall Cotton String Band. Obviously there are few people as gifted and diverse as the Celestial Cycles crew.

Yet owning and running a bike shop by itself may be a difficult thing. Already two of Oklahoma’s up and coming shops have closed their doors. Mick Wolf of Grassroots Cycling accepted a position to manage a larger shop in Utah, and Oklahoma’s only Iron Horse Bicycle Dealer, Pedal Power Bicycles, recently closed and is selling off it's inventory. Many shops struggle to make a profit while others seem to survive in spite of it all. Yet some bike shops manage to thrive in America’s cut-throat business environment in spite of all. Call it stoke, call it soul some businesses just rock and roll right along with both the good times and the bad.

Celestial Cycles is one of those businesses. Marquardt and Robinson offer something unique to Oklahoma’s cyclists: the Celestial Cycles Custom Conversion. In addition to selling and repairing high quality bikes, their in house fabrication ability enables them to create a custom cycling experience for anyone in need of a custom high quality bicycle.

Using only the finest frames, forks and components available, they are able to take any kind of bicycle and put it through an upgraded conversion process. Be it single speed, fixed geared, or geared, Celestial Cycles is able to create a riding experience unique to each customers tastes.

For example they could take any vintage racing bike and make it something special again. Nothing beats the glory of riding a classic lugged steel frame, especially when it’s been completely upgraded, re-furbished, and treated for rust. That kind of frame could provide a lifetime of memories over thousands of miles of hard riding.

For those in search of a custom experience the Celestials Conversion process can work wonders. For detailed information concerning their conversions or their shop, feel free to give them a call or check out their website here.
